This game shows how different drugs can improve the function of defective CFTR channels and increase chloride transport. Grant Available for Hopkins Researchers Pilot and feasibility grants to promote research that provides a better understanding of the pathogenesis of pediatric interstitial lung disease and to develop novel therapies for its treatment are available for Hopkins researchers. Inspire Releases Promising Results about Denufosol The results from the TIGER-1 trial demonstrated that denufosol improved the lung function compared to placebo after 24 weeks of therapy. CME Program for CF Caregivers Launched Johns Hopkins has launched a new CME program for professionals that care for patients with CF. Hopkins CF Patient Honored as a Hero of Hope Chase Smith is the April, 2008 Hero of Hope. This award is given "to recognize and salute unique individuals with cystic fibrosis who are stars in their own right for striving to live full and productive lives, and for being role models of hope to others." Chase's positive approach to dealing with CF enabled him to win this prestigous award. CF Foundation Announces Positive Results from Early Phase 2 Study of VX-770 VX-770 is an oral drug, known as a potentiator, which activates CFTR that has reached the cell surface.
