If there’s one thing you know about cystic fibrosis, it’s the thick mucus secretions it produces that invade our body. It doesn’t affect only our lungs and our ability to breathe, but it also plugs up ducts in our pancreas, preventing important digestive enzymes from getting to our gastrointestinal tract. We don’t get the protein and fat we need, which is why we get to have all those snacks. In other ways, CF also affects our bladder, liver, muscles and bones. How do you fight a disease that may attack so many different parts of your body? With multiple treatments, from antibiotics to battle infections and pancreatic enzymes to help digestion to chest therapy to loosen mucus all designed to improve your health and long life.
