Exercise
When you exercise, you build muscles and bone. Walking, jogging and climbing stairs help to build bone strength. Activities like swimming and biking improve heart and lung function and help to get mucus out of the lungs.

Nutritional Supplements
Good nutrition will help you prevent bone loss. Calcium and vitamin D supplements are especially important. Your doctor will check your vitamin D level every year with a blood test.

Sunlight
Exposure to sunlight helps maintain adequate levels of the active form of vitamin D in the body.  All it takes is 15 minutes a day.
